Mariah Kay Woods

It seems to have been longer than eighteen (18) days since
Mariah Kay Woods
was reported missing by her mother, Kristy Woods.
Mariah Kay Woods 3 years old
Kristy Woods rented a mobile home in Jacksonville, NC which she shared with her three children, Mariah age 3 and two boys ages 5 and 10.  Kristy's boyfriend, Earl Kimrey also lived in the home.

Kristy contacted authorities at 6:30 am on November 27, 2017, stating she woke up to find her 3 year old daughter, Mariah Woods, missing.  Kristy said she last saw her daughter the night before at 11:00 pm when she put her to bed.

When police interviewed Earl Kimrey, who was no stranger to the Onslow County Sheriff's Department, he stated he had last seen Mariah at midnight.  Kimrey stated Mariah had gotten up, he instructed her to go back to bed and that was the last time he'd seen her.

At this point, an amber alert was issued as law enforcement, Marines and volunteers began a four (4) day search of the neighborhood in Onslow County which would include the property of neighbors as well as nearby bodies of water.

Many people speculated as to why Kristy Woods and Earl Kimrey were not participating nor showing a presence at the search areas for Mariah. The general consensus among case followers was that Kimrey and Woods were being questioned.

Meanwhile, Alex Woods, Mariah's biological father, who has been fighting for custody of his three children for years, was interviewed.  He stated, ". . . it don't fit.  I feel like something's happened and they're trying to cover it up."  "I think her boyfriend got mad. . . or Kristy got mad . . . .  Mariah woke up, crying . . . fussing, whatever. . . .they got mad . . .  anger problems. . . they might of smacked her or something like that. . . and hurt her, and maybe hurt her more than just a smack and maybe panicked and done something bad with her . . . that's what we're thinking."

On December 1, 2017, it would come to prove the speculations from Alex Woods against Earl Kimrey and Kristy Woods, held some weight as authorities arrested Earl Kimrey on charges of concealing a death and obstruction of justice, holding him on $1 million bond.  He was also charged with second degree burglary, possession of stolen property and felony larceny.

Kimrey's presence in that trailer with Kristy Woods and her children, was well known to authorities long before her disappearance.  There are records of law enforcement responding to the home of Kimrey multiple times between the years of 2011 and 2016.  Included in these reports is a responding officer noting an assault on a juvenile, leaving minor injuries and destruction of property.  (More to come)

On December 2, 2017 authorities were into day five (5) of their search for Mariah in neighboring, Pender County.  A third party lead searchers about 25 miles from Mariah's home.  Mariah's body was found that day, however authorities did not make an official announcement, pending autopsy and official identification of the body.

While Kimrey sat in jail on December 5, 2017 court documents were leaked. which alleged the three children had been abused and also alleged Mariah Woods had been sexually abused by her mother's live-in boyfriend, Earl Kimrey.

Just one day after these revealing documents were released, authorities confirmed the body found in the creek running parallel to  Shaw Highway in Pender County was that of Mariah Kay Woods.

Authorities allege Earl Kimrey had concealed a body that had not died of natural causes.

Speculation spreads as quickly as rumors fly when a high profile case like this goes without murder charges being placed on anyone.

Mixed stories spew through social media in the form of snap shots of previous posts and comments from individuals claiming to be close to the case.

Two that stand out the most today are:

1.  Someone alleged one of Kristy's sons had accidentally killed Mariah, causing Earl Kimrey to conceal the body.

2.  Someone else alleged Earl Kimrey had accidentally hit her with a door, killing her then concealing the body.

Because the body was hidden, there is still much speculation among case followers as to the exact date Mariah died.

A neighbor stated Kristy had borrowed a suitcase from her saying she was going to Kentucky.  They left and returned just 2 hours later but the suitcase was lost.

There are many reasons like these that cause the public to ask why no charges have been placed on Kristy yet.

Is she cutting a deal in order to avoid time herself?

We'll start digging deeper into this case next week.
